  • File a police report
  • File a complaint in www.ftc.gov.
  • Check out at www.identitytheft.gov.
  • Place a fraud alert in the major credit bureaus:
  1. Equifax, www.Equifax.com
  2. Experian, www.Experian.com
  3. TransUnion, www.TransUnion.com
  • Contact IRS immediately if your electronic filing fails with an error saying a return has been filed.
  • Complete IRS Form 14039. https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f14039.pdf.
  • Continue to pay taxes and file tax return by mail – paper filing.
